Miguel Costa

I am a news reporter, author, and publicist based in Los Angeles, California. I began my career in this field as a staff writer with Music Connection, a long-standing industry outlet. Under the guidance of my Senior Editor, I was entrusted with writing live reviews of recording artists and bands from a wide range of genres, including punk rock, indie, metal, alternative, soul, hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and reggaeton. In the course of my developmental years with the outlet, I was assigned to cover major events such as the Grammy Awards and Coco: A-Live-To-Film Concert Experience, the latter of which I had the pleasure of interviewing the executive producers from the Disney Music Group.

My upstart with Music Connection has led to bylines with other international outlets like INKED Magazine, EUPHORIA, MOOD, mitú, Ones to Watch, and more. Throughout which I have interviewed and written feature stories on recording artists from Ozuna, H.E.R., Chase Atlantic, Vic Mensa, and Moby, to actors like Javon Walton and filmmakers such as Ángel Manuel Soto.

In recent years, I have been fortunate enough to expand my content beyond music, television, and film with an assortment of topics that I am very passionate about, like sports, culture, and worldly news. When it comes to these categories, some of the most memorable articles that I’ve written include separate stories about the female-led protests in Iran (an event inspired by the death of Masha Amini), Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day (and the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War which occurred in 2020), a thought-provoking discussion with an award-winning photographer/activist named Jacob Holdt, and a prose-style interview with WWE star Ivy Nile.

A few years into my journalism career, I was hired as a publicist for a pair of entertainment boutiques, where I stayed for about three years, while continuing to add new stories to my growing portfolio as a writer. Since then, I have remained consistent as a journalist and in the world of PR marketing, as a freelance publicist for a variety of clients, all across the business spectrum, including fashion designers and family enterprises.

My passion for PR, marketing, and the business side of entertainment has led to the development of a full-service marketing company that encompasses many facets of not only my work experiences, but also growing my network.

On the creative side, I have been inspired by the many people and places that I have encountered on my journey. These experiences are a significant reason why I have nearly completed my first novel and a pilot episode of a screenplay I am developing; both projects are rooted in the science fiction genre. I am very excited to share these stories with the world someday.
